A PdPR nobody saw coming
In October, schools were suddenly told to switch to PdPR because of the haze. There was no time to plan. One day the pupils were in class, and the next day they were at home.
My first thought was simple: how do I keep my own pupils practising? So I made one online game, just for my class. To my surprise, every single pupil submitted their work.
Not just my problem
Then PdPR was extended, and I saw the teachers around me struggling to prepare materials for their pupils. UASA for the upper primary pupils, and Pentaksiran Sumatif 2 for the lower primary pupils, were just around the corner, and we had no classroom to revise in.
How do we still continue the revision when the pupils are not in school?
The problem I was facing was the same problem every teacher in my school was facing. That is when I decided to build something bigger than a game for one class: uasa.mrreyy.com, a free revision site any teacher could use.
What is inside
Everything is free, works on a phone, and needs no sign-up for pupils. A teacher makes a class link, shares it in the class WhatsApp group, and sees each pupil's work.
- Year 1 to 3: short, playful revision games for lower primary pupils.
- Year 3 to 6, Parts 1 to 5: revision games built on the UASA paper format.
- Email Room and Poster Mail: step-by-step practice for Part 6 and Part 7 email writing (Year 4 to 6).
- Writing Practice: pupils write, then get instant feedback on what to improve.
- Exam-style revision: practice papers to try before the real one.
"A life saver"
The first time I shared it, the response from teachers was huge. Many called it a life saver. Of course it was a life saver: it was made for PdPR. But what moved me more was what happened next. As teachers tried the games themselves, they began to appreciate how the games work, not only that they were there when we needed them.
There is still a lot more to improve. But every message from a teacher, and every pupil who logs in to try one more round, tells me which way to go next. What began as a way to get through one PdPR has become a place where revision can continue, in school or at home, for any pupil who needs it.
